the cold is gone now!!!

Like my sweater??? haha Found it at the church and wanted to use it for a little.
So this will be a little difficult to type today. This keyboard is really annoying to use here... haha. But anyways, this week was a cold week! I loved it but didn't like sleeping in it, surprisingly... haha. It got down to negative 5 degrees Celsius! super cold! I used my sweats underneath my dress pants to not die because not only was it cold, but it was super windy! It felt a lot like Rexburg, and I really in the end enjoyed it.

So this week all in all, was pretty... annoying... haha. The pope came to Brasil so everyone got super catholic on us. Every house we went to do a contact, they told us that they didn't want  to hear from us because they are catholic. It was a frustrating week with these people. Give it 1 more week and the people will forget they are catholic again :). Sad but true... anyways, lots of rejection this week. But I am all good all in all. This week we had a family we have been teaching for this whole time I have been here mark the date of their wedding. 24th of August!!!! I am really excited for them and they have changed so much. Its super cool to see the difference in people with the gospel. There is also another family from this week we got teaching. They have been going to church for a long time already, and never let us teach them (or the other elders that were here before). The other day they had just told us randomly, pass by (very excited) and they were ready to hear the discussions. Come to find out that their whole family that lives in Rio Grande do Sul are members of the church. I thought that was really cool. They will also be here this week and we plan on teaching together with them. It will be an awesome experience and they already have testimonies of the church. she wants to be baptized along with the rest of her family as soon as her husband feels ready. I am super excited to see what happens Tuesday!

This week was one of those weeks... nothing really super amazing happened. It seems like the longer I am here on the mission the more a week comes a routine and flies by faster and faster. it is really crazy. I really need to remember to write things down or I forget them when I come to type here at the lan house. it's all good. I will try and get better!

I am not really craving any food in particular here. I am wanting more ranch though! I have one more companion that says ranch is amazing. I just don't understand why someone doesn't bring these things here to start selling and make a ton of money! makes sense huh??? haha

But send what you think I would like! I love the packages you send. I love getting ties also! Don't forget that! haha. Also, new pictures and more pictures of my photography (printed) would be nice!

Love ya guys and take care! have a great week!

Its snowing in brasil!

Do you believe it?! It's 0 degrees Celsius (everyone is dying of the cold air) and it snowed this morning. I got a really nice trunky feeling from it... haha. But anyways, I can't believe it. I am actually shocked: a place that gets up to 122 degrees hit 32 degrees, during the day of all the times! haha. It is a really good feeling to have the cold here, but terrible to write on the keyboard here because there is no such thing as a heater here!

So your questions... First, they have tons of mangos here. They love them here, but not used to cook much. They make really good deserts with them and Juice, but never food type stuff. haha.

This week was a pretty good week. I didn't sweat a SINGLE TIME! haha. It was cold the whole week and it is nice to walk in. I had to call the doctor this week because my upper body caught an infection on the skin that will be a good month before gone... It's a little annoying and itches like crazy but it's all good. I will get past it, all the itching and burning it does... haha. But anyways, this week I had some funny moments, because my companion is crazy funny. Love the guy! haha

So there is a family here that lived in Utah and Arizona that speak English perfectly. The other day was an activity and he was fishing (one of the little boys). The little magnet fishing thing. But he was going when another kid stuck his line over the others when it got tangled up really bad. He started yelling, in English, HELP ME! SOMEBODY HELP ME! I figured... I must be the only one that is understanding this right now, better help! haha. It was just super funny and hilarious to hear because everyone else was like, what the heck is he saying! haha

Gave pop rocks to a sister missionary in my district... yeah... it started to crackle and she started screaming and spit it out really fast. It was super funny because she had never seen it before and said she thought that it went bad already. haha. I got a good laugh out of it and so did everyone else. Wish I would have filmed it.

So Emily... remember when she got baptized and she gave the missionaries a hug? Yeah, that was nothing... haha. So it's a custom for women to give kisses to those who they respect, on the cheek. I was walking out of the church building to say bye to everyone and one of our investigators, not knowing that she couldn't, walked up and just gave me a kiss on the cheek. There was no time to react.... I felt so weird and super... who knows, like I sinned terribly. But it was funny cuz it made me think of Emily Bond. She has nothing to feel bad about! haha.

Fixed everything in our house this week. Even the shower head that smelled of electrical fire every time we took a shower. We put all the wires together and everything and went to turn on the power from the other room. We were both looking in the direction of the shower when we started counting down to turn on the power... 3...2...1... CLICK. The next thing we saw was a big ball of ´´fire´´  leave from the bathroom shower head. I laughed so hard because how funny it was, but in the end, the shower head worked perfectly! haha. You would be proud of me mom with all the cleaning that I have done in this house already! haha

I am very excited for this week because of the 9 people that went to church this week. I am super excited. Things just get better in this area and the members really treat us well. I am happy to be here and very happy it snowed! haha. We are teaching a family of 2 girls and her grandma, because her parents left them at birth. It's a sad story, but they remind me a ton of Michelle and Deanna, the way they argued. haha. They are progressing a lot and hope to help them get baptized this week. Keep them in your prayers please!

I love you guys a ton and hope all is well. I miss you guys, as always, and hope everyone is still writing lots of letters! I got 8 the other day and was very pleased :) Thank you a ton everyone!

Hey guys!

Me and my comp

On our way to Foz to meet the new Mission President...
had to get up at 4:00 in the morning to go.
I am already loving the area here. My companion is Elder Do Vale, who is from Maranh, up north. He is really chill and I really think he and I will get along pretty well. We have the same type of personality. 2 sisters and 3 brothers in his family. His mom and dad are separated having his mom being the only member of the 2. 2 of his brothers served missions also though. I am really excited for this transfer.

My new church building here is crazy... it's a House, but it's a MANSION! haha. There are 130 people that go every week here, which is really good. I am really happy that the ward is really strong and I have the BEST BISHOP that I have had on the mission. He is a great guy. He also has a daughter that looks exactly like Jordie Egbert. haha. But they are giving us lots of references and they help us with anything we need, all the way up to rides. Like yesterday, we went to lunch and my companion needed to go to the other side of the city for his Patriarchal blessing. I was so jealous he was getting his. I thought it was awesome and he loved it. Made me think about the experience that I had getting mine. Such a great experience. But anyways, we called and the member had 0 problems getting us a ride and took us there. They are just wonderful people here.

My district is a little different here also. I have only Sisters in my district. It's such a weird difference in how I have to take their numbers and accompany them. With elders I am straight forward and you gotta tell them that way or they don't understand. Sisters are a whole different story. President says it's a training for dating after the mission. haha. I thought it was funny. But it's a change I will have to get used to again. They are really great the sisters in my district and work really hard, so I don't have to worry too much about them.

I am just loving everything in my new area. The only complaint I have, is my area is HUGE! We walk a lot but it also gives us more areas we can work. It's a good trade off.

This morning we did a huge deep clean on the house. There was just dirt all over the walls and it was nasty. We took rags with water and started to clean, and now its spotless. I don't know how people can live like that. Its nasty. But I am super pleased now the fact that we have a clean house now. I will take a picture for you. It's also funny because to get into the shower you have to hop over the toilet. Its super tiny, but nothing to worry or complain about. haha.

Time is passing by super fast. Makes me wanna work harder though so it's all good. I don't feel home sick at all anymore for two reasons... One, I don't have tons of time left. And two, I don't remember practically ANYTHING about home anymore. haha. That's the crazy part. Thinking of that, I found a place in center here that has t-shirts for little kids. For example, one that says, "I love my Tio". Yeah in other words, Dantzels getting a present ;) haha. I was super excited to see that.

But all is well on the other side of the Equator. I love you guys lots and hope all is well for you guys!
Me and my comp enjoyed the pic of Connor, and as my companion says "model Connor" that you sent me in the snail mail with him next to the door. haha. He is TALL!

Love ya guys!

ps. I learned something that I feel like an idiot I finally learned... The word Equador (the country) means Equator. I never put 2 and 2 together.... haha.

Looks like....

I am going to be transferred AGAIN! haha. I will be going to Cascavel, which means rattlesnake... haha. I will be going to Coqueiral and will be with another Brazilian. I really like being with Brazilians because I can practice more and more my Portuguese. It's always a good thing. I will be sad yet again to leave from here, but we will see what we can do.

So this week was a very challenging week. We had a lot of problems finding new investigators this week and it is not fun when we can't find investigators... The week drags on. I am happy I will get a new start in a new area now and I am thinking I will get excited again, at least a little bit more. haha. But anyways, this week, that family that is super awesome, one more problem as always. The Dad is starting to hate the church for no reason at all. We have no idea why and he will not tell us but it is super frustrating. We never understand why but there must be a purpose for it. This week I just wasn't excited to work, and wasn't really excited to do anything. I tried tried tried but just kept getting back to the same ending of being really unexcited... haha. I just kept thinking that nothing was going right (bad attitude) and that I felt like I wasn't being blessed for all the hard work... Frustrating. We sat down for a moment on Thursday night to just sit and talk for a minute and take a break when this kid 10 houses down started to just stare at us. It was strange. He ran back in the house and came out with his dad and his dad yelled ´´hey, come here!´´. We looked around and had no one else and pointed to ourselves saying ´´us?´´ haha. He said yes. My first thought was he wanted to argue with us or something... here we go... As we got closer he had two pieces of cake on a plate and told us, ´´my son said you guys looked a little tired, do you accept a piece of cake?´´ Yeah, I ate my words thinking of what I had been saying that I felt like no one in the city would ever listen or likes us... I was really happy and my mood changed completely. It was a big move. The guy was really awesome and make juice for us and offered to feed us. Very awesome guy. God does watch over us... no matter what...

Like Saturday night... A guy wanted to kill us I am pretty sure. We were talking with a family when all of a sudden this guy came out of nowhere and I shook his hand like I would anyone else, and he held on to my hand while saying, ´´let's talk´´ in a really low voice... Yeah it was something else. We sat down and he just talked and talked about how much he didn't like us, and every time he stood up, we tried to leave, but he wouldn't let us. Yeah, I would have just ran away, but he had a knife in his sheathe that made it a little more difficult. We waited it out and everything worked out in the end. But that guy was crazy...

Another crazy guy ran after us this week when we knocked on his door... haha. Just a week of crazies here. I think it's about time to get out of this area.

I got to get packing! I love you all and will let you know all about my new area when I get there. It should be a great experience there. I love you so much and I am getting more and more trunky the closer it gets. Especially with CJ going home and all that, it's crazy how fast time flies by.

I love you all!

Hey Mother!

Enjoying a Snickers bar before being stung by bee the size of his pinky

To start off, Brasil won the Fifa Cup last night. Everyone went crazy!! haha. But it was pretty cool knowing that they beat spain, a team that hasnt lost a single game in 3 years. That is pretty crazy I thought. But anyways, the World Cup should be pretty interesting to watch this next year. I will probably watch all of Brasils games when I get home. haha.

But anyways, this week was pretty relaxed. More rain but finally, we get a break from it.... today.... pday of all days. haha. The day I want rain, we dont have it. What luck. But this week we have been teaching a wonderful family. The lady has cancer in her hand, one of the weirdest things I have ever heard. She uses a glove always. She hates going to any type of church, but she let us in, and did her ´´homework´´ that we left her to pray about the stuff she heard from us. She prayed and the next time we got back she interuppted us when we were just having small talk and practically yelled, I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet! It was really cool. She couldnt go to church with us this week though because she had a few people that came to visit. It stunk. But its a family of 4 that I hopefully will get to see get baptized. I am excited. But transfers are this next week, so who knows if I will still be here or not.I really hope I am though. President left last night and a new president arrived today, so we will see if many people are transfered or what will happen. I wont get to meet the new pres until next week unfortunately. I will really miss pres Tavares and Sister Tavares. They were really great.

Mom you are travelling a ton! You need to stop traveling so much! haha. Its how my life feels too... at least one time a week I dont sleep in my own house. Its not fun. Especially not being able to shave or something before leaving home. But just enjoy the time you have there.

So a funny story from the week... that hurt a lot!

I was sitting enjoying my snickers bar (that they only have here in the FOz Region) taking a quick break from walking. I was just talking to my comp enjoying the sun that came out for a few seconds when all of a sudden my leg started to hurt REALLY BAD. I could not believe how bad it hurt and had no idea what happened. I thought, ´´ a bug must have bitten me´´ so I wacked at my leg to hit whatever bug that bit my off my leg. I couldnt believe I didnt see the dang thing. It was a bee as big as my pinky finger that had stung me! It was crawling on the ground away from us and I got up trying to kill it, but it flew away at the last second. I still have a mark from it (like a big bubble on my leg haha) even though it was Tuesday that it happened. Second time in my life (that I remember) getting stung by a bee. I hope to never get stung by a bee that size EVER AGAIN. haha. It doesnt feel too great...

This week got a lot of work again. We are going to Foz (went there on saturday) again this week for a Zone Meeting. I am not too excited about it but as everyone says here, só vai. (just go with it). Its one of the traits I am learning on the mission. Just go with that flow ya know?

I hope all is well in washington. I am getting all the rain from washington here. Its not too hot which is a nice change too. Enjoy the heat while its there though! I love you guys!
