Hello!

Cameron's Birthday Celebration

Yep, another week. And of course, always flies by. This week kinda felt a little slow during the middle but picked up when we ended up baptizing 2 people this week. It was a lot of fun. We had 2 kids that hadn't been baptized but were at church so many times with their families, but the president there couldn't do the interviews because it's a rule. But we got to baptize and that's always a good thing!

Anyways,
More clues to find my house. It's in Pederneras. That's not how to spell it but I am lazy to look at the actual spelling. As of right now there is a guy standing outside of this lan house casting a spell at me. He is clearly drunk and I can smell it and people (like me) are looking at him really funny. haha.

(Note: Last week Cameron sent a picture of his house along with the address so we could find it on Google Maps.  Maybe you could give it a try!  Rua nove de julho, 510 Pederneiras - São Paulo, Brazil. It doesn't come up at the correct location. It's near the road Riachuela.)

My comp still hasn't gotten his bank card yet. He will be getting it tomorrow but I have been paying everything for him and somehow I still have 50 reais and I have NO CLUE HOW. haha. Blessings of course!

So the towel is working out great here. I actually love it. You just gotta always hang it up correctly or else it will start to smell like any other towel but dries a LOT quicker. I recommend it for sure. It's also nice and small to be able to take around on divisions and stuff like that.

So this week was great/crazy. The first night we celebrated my birthday getting a pizza and a cake, that was SUPER GOOD. I loved it. It had fresh fruits in it too. Another member of the branch actually made me a cake too, but it was the day after but was AMAZING. I opened my ´´presents´´ (I put it like that because all of them already got ripped open basically but was super excited to wear my new tie and I will make that shirt my zone conf. shirt. Thank you so much for that package. I really enjoyed it! I also LOVED all the pictures that the family did for saying happy birthday. Very creative! Did you guys think of that or was it a Googled idea? Either way it was awesome! I loved it so much and was just laughing the entire way through looking at of them. I got a kick especially out of the one of my crazy aunts, and also the one in the middle of the field that Michelle did. That one made me laugh. haha. I would be scared to go out into a field like that here in Brazil... there are lots of snakes in the fields here!

Some stories, don't have too much but here I go!

1.So this week we found a good 4 cockroaches in our kitchen. I thought we would get creative and get them out of the house somehow. So yeah, what we did, like everyone else would do, you grab the brooms and play cockroach hockey! It was super funny. And we got the roaches out so I figure it was pretty successful. The stinkin cockroaches are fast here though! So we almost lost one of them running under the desk. haha

2. Our baptism... SO here there is no baptismal font, so you know what we got to do? Baptize in the pool of course! haha. It was a lot of fun. I got a good laugh at it but the president here said we needed to go and clean the pool which was fun, but took a LOT of time. I just told him, let's go baptize in the river! I have a goal of doing that here. haha.

I just got informed that my companion's mom saw my blog and laughed about the story I had told about Elder Jones. My comp was a little hesitant of putting that story on there because he... actually I don't know why, he might have just been embarrassed. But it made me laugh. I will have to keep you updated with all the funny stories that happen with him. New Americans are always funny, but I remember how stressed I was when I was one, so I am trying to help him out as much as possible!

We are doing well here as of right now. All is great here and I was even excited that we got to do a Noite Familiar (FHE) with a family and friends and got to watch 17 Miracles. I was super excited because I love that movie. So thanks again for sending that!

Sorry I don't have much to say this week or any super fun stories, but I will try and get some more stories for you next week! I promise!

I love you all so much! (especially Dantzel for singing to me because that was the cutest thing EVER and thanks to her wonderful mom for having her do it.) Made my day!
Take care!

Eu estou treinando um Americano! (I'm training an American!)

My first child on the mission!
(They call it child when you train)

Crazy week opening up the area here and doing lots of stuff actually. I first got to Londrina and stayed in my first area to sleep that night (with Elder Carrell, one of my favorite missionaries) and got to go out and visit a bunch of people that I had been teaching when I was first there. I was speaking the language finally so they got to actually have a real convo with me. It was pretty fun. But they got tons of food and were super excited but upset I didn't tell them sooner to plan a BBQ (Churrasco) with them. But the next day, got my companion! I am going to be training an American! He doesn't speak any of the language and it brought me back to my training days. His name is Elder Jones. He is from New York and lived on an Indian reservation there. I thought that was pretty cool. He is 21 years old too, so we can relate a little more on that side of things. He is doing awesome and progressing really fast! I love being able to help him.

Your questions that you had asked...
-Yes I would love those CTR bands. I don't need a TON but it would be awesome to have. And sadly to say, I don't know where to send this next package. None of the members live anywhere close to us. SO I am thinking one more to the mission home. I hope they don't get upset.... haha. But the thing is, the packages you send never have problems. Other missionaries have had problems with it and had to pay a 100 real tax. Who knows why...
-Chocolate chips, basically don't exist here. You just use a chocolate bar. No need to send! and we bought that pizza. Pizza is only about 10 dollars for a drink and a pizza, that is really good, so we just went for it to celebrate! haha. And it's always fun to celebrate baptisms. haha.

Stories first, then I will tell you about our area...

1. SO in Garça, I got home the last night there (Monday) after being really sad saying bye to all the wonderful members there. We got there turned on the light, and there was a GIANT bat in our house! Holy crap that scared me so much. It was probably looking for its kid that we had in the back that died, and my comp scooped it up and threw it out. But it was in our house! That was super scary. My comp Elder C Azevedo had no fear and ran at it and kicked it out of the house. I guess it's more of a normal thing for him. But the bat started crawling at me like the grudge! It was a really funny moment. I will have to explain more in words at home after the mission.

2. So I guess I just have a problem with giant animals here. We got to our house and it is a great house. It had lots of bugs though. The very first day studying this giant moth flew in to the house which I had thought was another bat because it flew like a bat! It was HUGE though and I had a little battle with it.  That would have been fun for you to watch. It was about the size of a fully stretched open hand. That was not no ordinary moth.

3. One more funny thing with animals, we have a giant gecko living in our kitchen. A lot bigger than the ones in Hawaii and it got me laughing about Deanna and how she was super scared of those. She would die with this one here. It got me giggling to be honest. haha.

4. My companion and I were studying to prepare to teach his first lesson, or part of the lesson. He took the very first part of the lesson to study and had it down pretty well. We found a lady to teach that wanted to hear our message and she was about 30 years old with a 2 year old kid. This is where it got good. The lady invited us in and we went, got to know here and then asked if we could share this message with here. It was my comps first lesson ever. We said the prayer and after, he was to start. The lady, then decided apparently that it was appropriate to breast feed, and my companion just had terror in his eyes. He tried so hard to spit out the words and I was holding in from laughing so hard! I died laughing after the lesson. It's just normal here now that people do that, but still a little weird at the same time! haha.

So about my area. A really small town. The branch just started 2 years ago and only has 38 members going every week. I will be completely honest, I was complaining to myself a little bit when I got here. But I got proved wrong. The members are WONDERFUL!. They are all here ready to help and super excited to have missionaries again here in the area. The last time they had missionaries was 4 months ago when president found out they were slacking off and were transferred really fast. But the president of the branch is really glad we aren't here to slack. The members are really strong here. They also meet in a house at the moment with a made pulpit and everything. It's really cool. But I just love the people here already.

One of the members gave a talk on missionary work, talking about how much we sacrifice. It made me think so much. But one thing he said that really hit me was how much my family is sacrificing. I am so grateful for all you are sacrificing for me, and all that you do for me. I got over 20 letters and my package this week and just was so grateful for the love and even from people in the ward at home. I am so very grateful. People were also jealous of the fact I got so many letters and such cool stuff in my package. I am gonna unwrap the stuff you gave me tomorrow in the wrapping paper, even though I know what they are already. And I am thinking that I am gonna go out to eat with my comp, and treat him too. Just to celebrate. I am super excited. He also has no money right now, because he accidently left his card in Londrina. haha. But it's all good. It will all work out in the end.

Everything is going great here, a little tough but wonderful! I am working my hardest to open this area and have success in growing this branch. The people are great, branch is wonderful, and I just can't believe how blessed I am . I also had a wonderful experience from the moment I got here. I didn't understand perfectly everything when I was in Garça, working there. I got that calling to train and was super nervous it would be an American because of the fact I couldn't understand perfectly. After we got our companions, I just felt something different, and looking back it was a different feeling of the Holy Ghost blessing me to understand better. I now can understand literally EVERYTHING people say here. I could not believe it. But the blessings here are wonderful, and I wouldn't trade them for anything else. I am so grateful for the chance I have to serve this mission, and it is growing my testimony every moment of everyday, with the miracles I see, and the spirit I get to feel. I know this church is the only true church on the earth, and I have a testimony of that without a doubt in my mind.

I love you all and take care. I love hearing about all the stuff at home. It is so great to have such wonderful people supporting me when I look at other missionary families who the family aren't even members. Thank you for all you do.

Te-amo!
Até mais!

Eu vou treinar! (I Will Train)

Yeah this week was crazy... I got a phone call yesterday letting me know that I will be going to Londrina tomorrow. I was thinking why?? i am going for a conference because I will be training a new missionary! I was super excited, and am very nervous too! Eesh. We will see. I was thinking that I would stay here, but looks like I will be headed off to a city about an hour away in Sao Paulo named Bauru. I am super excited to train. I don't know if it will be a Brasilian or an American but I will know tomorrow. Looks like I will be packing the bags again today... Crap.. haha. President can't just keep me in one place! haha. Anyways, this is just a lesson learned. I was sitting the other day thinking how much I feel like I am platforming and ready for some more responsibility. I was thinking, I need to be challenged here a little more. I prayed for it, and the next day I get it. I will be opening this area too that has been closed for some time. I am NERVOUS!

Anyways, your questions. First, I get my hair cut with members, or I just do it myself like Matt did. It works out pretty well! My comp did it in Apucarana and I had a member do it here.

Stores here, they have big stores and also little markets here. They have little markets a lot because the fact not many people have cars here so it's easier to get home. But they have a good variety of things to chose from but lots of things that normally we buy in the states that are SUPER SPENDY! But I just normally stick with simple things.

I am over my homesickness for now. I will also try to learn about all the Christmas traditions to tell you asap! And no, they don't do Thanksgiving but I will convince a member to do a dinner for it. They love doing American holidays with us.

Anyways, this week is crazy! I just can't believe that I am already getting transferred. I can't believe it. I just can't believe it. But I am also very excited!
I have some fun stories for the week...

First, I saw FIREFLIES for the first time in my life. They are super cool. The whole field was covered in them. It was super cool looking but my camera couldn't capture it... I was sad... But I have that memory always though!

Batman, or woman, gave birth in the back of our house. We have had a baby bat in the back of our house for three days now. It finally died today but I took a picture just for everyone to see! haha

Went to a house this week to visit an inactive and she was so excited to see us she made food and especially, JUICE she was very excited to give us. The juice looked like dirt... and tasted worse. Wow, that was TERRIBLE! haha. I couldn't believe that it tasted that bad. But the crappy part is, I am a missionary, and don't want to offend people. SO guess what I did... I drank it ALL.... and a little more... because she offered more. haha.

I have been working really hard here and am so excited for something new yet again. I can't believe that its every transfer something new. I am super sad that I have to leave Elder C Azevedo because we got along really well! I leave tomorrow and will tell you all about my new area this next week, along with my new companion. Let's see how this goes! I will also be broke again, so I might be using my card just so you know in advance!

I love you so much! Thank you for all you do for me! Tell Connor to keep up the good work! That makes me happy to know my mother is getting treated well. Just tell him I will beat him up if he doesn't keep up the good work. And he is wearing my CLOTHES NOW?! That little punk.... haha jk

I love you!

Take care e até mais!

Mais um batismo! (One More Baptism)

People really enjoyed torta na cara.
Hey guys!

So this week was a pretty slow week. Surprising huh? But it was pretty darn slow. I will be honest, got a little homesick this week for some reason. I don't know why. I think I was just thinking about the season and I am so used to having Christmas at home, thanksgiving and my bday. Eesh... It's already this time of the year! I am excited because in less than two months, you all will get to see my beautiful face on Google plus! How's that sound?! haha

Well first your questions. I was actually at a members house and scored a free bible. Now just looking to find a Book of Mormon. I think I will just order it. I will just go to a members house and do it I think. I also thought of two more things I would like. One... one more thing of maple. One of the returned missionaries here really wants it. He loves it and Brasil doesn't have maple extract. And also, I would LOVE DR Scholls insoles. They are so spendy here. They are a lot cheaper in the states. I am gonna ask a member in the ward this week where you can send the next package too and will let you know the address this next week.

-The card is for Debit right? It's a lot cheaper to use a debit card here. I am just nervous with theft and stuff. But I won't be using my card too much until the end of the mission to buy stuff I would like to buy. I bought shoes this week with my card and a shirt this week so you know. I also am thinking I am going to pull out 100reals (50 bucks) to have as a backup. Just in case. haha

Jesus the Christ is going really well actually. It's the one book I have actually dove REALLY DEEP into. I love it. I am passed halfway done. I come home at night and even read it after planning. I love it that much. Surprising huh? I am READING! haha.

Anyways, this week was pretty great. We baptized this week and he loves the church. He has had a hard time in his family with his parents dying and his brothers not doing good stuff but he is so excited. His name is Caiquie (Ky-yee-kee). Awesome kid. The baptism was great and keep him in your prayers. We are doing everything possible to keep him firm too. That's one thing I love about my comp. He won't baptize unless he knows the person is really ready and can stay firm.

There were some funny stories that happened this week.

There wasn't much of a Halloween here. The closest thing to a Halloween I saw was 3 girls in the supermarket here with a little bit of paint on their faces and a shirt that said the F word. Yeah, I asked her if she knew what it meant and she didn't. That's the closest thing to a Halloween costume I saw. haha.

-We played a game this week on Wednesday called torta na cara. (Cake in the face). It was a game show type thing and if you got the question wrong you got cake in the face. It was actually shaving cream because that was the cheapest thing here. Whip cream costs 18 reals here! Holy crap! If I remember right in the states is WAYYY cheaper! But I had a lot of fun and we were the last to go. I got my companion pretty good and he got me pretty good too.

-I learned this week that Boston, in a Boston accent is a bad word. Yeah... that was embarrassing...

-So the hurricane that hit the states. EVERYONE in the branch when I stopped by their house talked about it. Everyone said... oh my gosh, I hope Elder Millett's family is ok. It hit WASHINGTON! haha. The thing they didn't realize was it hit the OTHER Washington. I have to explain that to everyone here. That there are 2 Washingtons, State and D.C. But, people are thinking about you here! Shows they really care!

I had a really good week this week for the most part. I had a really good fast with a great outcome from it. (side note... Nikki minaj is on the radio here and I can't help but sing!... it's my weakness here!) But the fast, I did my first fast here without water. It is just so hot that every time I try without water I get killer headaches. But this time, it was so easy. It was super hot but I didn't have any problems this time. After, I said a prayer to end the fast and no joke, I see why we need to fast. I just felt so loved and I had no idea why. Fasting is so important and I never really realized how powerful it is until now. It was, like tons of things that have already happened here, a huge testimony builder. I am gonna try harder now to always have more meaningful fasts like that now.

We have lots to do this week. LOTS to do. haha. It should be a really good week. Working lots with less actives and inactives. This last week we were working with lots of inactives and we are seeing progress! We had 3 of them in church which is a lot harder than it sounds. They are awesome and just got lost for a little. I want to see progress here in the branch to become a ward someday here!

I love you all so much and will try my best to not be so homesick. haha. Its hard! haha. But take care and always smile!

Até mais!
