A week of crying....

My companion and I got back to the house after church, he sat down...
and was OUT! We were just super worn out after the week!
Not really, I just cut an onion and my eyes were watering for a whole hour... It stung! Is that normal for a whole hour?!

Anyways..

Yep, this week flew by. It was freakin hot here! I have no idea why it was so hot but recently it just has literally been scorching hot that no one is leaving their house or nothing. It's been above the 40s every day and night time is hard to sleep. It's also been interesting, I got some sort of food poisoning this week and also had a sore throat all week, which is now turning in to a cold. Crap... haha. But it's been great. Spent over 80$ on medicine because sister told me I needed to. I was drugged up a lot this week. You can imagine how that was. But I am feeling a lot better after all the meds. Well anyways, the ´´splits´´ went good. It was really fun. It was great to speak English for a little while and to enjoy. But it's getting easier everyday to communicate with people here. Just gotta learn more words. We had pizza and of course it was good. I gotta be honest... pizza is way better here. It's a lot cheaper too. Well sometimes... And everyone comes with a free drink here in Garça. But we spent the day, really rainy, trying to find more people to teach. We ended up finding a few which was good.

So transfers... president will either move transfers to one more week after, or one more week before Christmas. I think it will be before though. The prophet has actually said that all Elders going home near Christmas to go home before to spend time with the family. So it will probably be moved up or back. President knows, I just don't know. haha. Dont worry!

So some stories this week...

1. Found out I am allergic to some sort of bug here. It could be a type of mosquito here. I got bit and it was REALLY bad looking. Another medication I had to take for the week. But it cleared up really fast. You should see my arms though... they got eaten alive. I am using bug repellent now though.

2. I was walking along on the sidewalk and... well let me explain this first. They have little trash collectors here outside of all the houses. Normally they are stationed right next to the road but for some reason there was another trash collector thing hanging from the wall of a house. I was walking along and.... yep you guessed it.... DING! Hit my head really hard. It was really funny to think about after but the headache that day SUCKED!. haha Yeah I guess I learned my lesson to walk looking straight ahead. haha.

3. We were out looking for a reference we had gotten a week ago. We were looking for the house but the number given was wrong. The name of the lady was Ruthy. Ruthy in English isn't as funny... but in Portuguese its said like Hootchy... Which already made me giggle a little. But my companion went asking another lady... hey, I am looking for a Ruthy, you know where she is? I just died laughing. A little immature yes... but super funny in my opinion.

Anyways, this week was nothing super special. I was super tired and worn out like every day and it was such a fast week. I am continuing to work really hard here and let's just say... my clothes are getting destroyed! I see why missionaries shoes are so destroyed and shirts dirty now... haha. But yeah, shirts would be nice someday! Maybe Christmas gift?

Gotta get going though! I love you all!

Até Mais!
Elder Millett!

Ps. Connor, those are some sweet cleats you got there. I am thinking about buying some sweet Brasil ones while I am down here too. Be jealous bud ;) haha

Hellllo!!

Thought I would start with English this time. haha. It's been a while since I have been able to speak English with any missionaries considering me and my Brazil comp are the only ones here. But first, your questions.

I am eating properly again. We received our money plus a little bit extra from president because he felt bad. It was nice. We went out to a restaurant (however you spell that) and it was super good! It's one thing I am gonna miss about Brazil is the  cheap food. 4 dollars for all you can eat! Ever seen that in the US?? No... haha.

-You could mail the package to the office if you want. Transfers are the 13th of November

-Trip to the zoo sucked... We got there and it was CLOSED! The only day it's not open is Mondays... How crappy. haha. So we went and played ping pong instead.

-Things are wonderful in Garça. I am feeling more and more comfortable with the area. I am super nervous though because I am doing a division in my area tomorrow with an American (Elder Newby from Seattle WA) and am super nervous. I have no idea why either. But the great thing is, we are going to get a pizza that night. haha. It will also be very good for me to get to know the area better. We never use the bus here. We walk EVERYWHERE we go. Literally everywhere. Sometimes members drive by and pick us up which is always wonderful but rare. I love it here in Garça. The members here are awesome and I just enjoy the environment here. It's more a small town which is something I like a lot. The only problem with that is that we pay a lot more for food and all here which stinks... But it's all good!

And no mom, they don't celebrate Halloween. It sounds like a few people do and I am gonna try and make an activity that day or something. haha.

Anyways the week: we baptized this week! It always feels really good to baptize. It really does. His name is Manuel and he is cousins with the Relief Society pres. He had the lessons taught so many times to him already for years he had said and been to church so many times but we showed up, just because we needed to know where lunch was (because the RS pres is in charge of it and he was there) and we left a little message with them and marked a date for baptism with him. He accepted and he had no idea why. He also had a huge addiction to Smoking, Drinking, and Coffee. But he said the next time we stopped by, he wanted to throw up with the thought of any of those. The Lord really does prepare people. After years, he was finally baptized and I had the privilege to baptize him. This area has not had a baptism in 6 months btw...

Fun stories for the week...

-First, I held a parrot! It was super cool but I was a little nervous at first. They are super friendly and love to bite people too... Random... But yeah, it bit my finger pretty good. And they have very sharp talons (I think that's the word). But it was such a cool experience! I loved it! I will for sure do it again!

-The other night, it was pouring down rain randomly. It was super sunny throughout the day and really hot. 40 degrees Cel again... EESH! Im gonna die with this heat. haha. But I got up to shut the window when a lightning bolt struck right outside our house! It was SOOOO LOUD!!! But a really cool site.

We had interviews this week with president. He was talking with me and he had said that he had closed this area. He closed it because the last missionaries here were slackers basically and pulled them out with no one here for a while. He had said he fasted and prayed specifically which missionaries to put in this area. I feel like I have a huge responsibility after he said that. But the interviews were really good. I love President Tavares. He is just such a loving man and I felt so much more motivated after that.

Other then these things, this week was really good. We worked a TON and are trying to work lots with the members here. We have lots of inactives but we, of course, want to change that! The members are great here and willing to help.

Today looks like I will just be writing letters and sleeping! Super excited!
I love you! Thank you for all you do!

Até Mais!
-Elder Millett

PS. Dad is going to love this guy named J.J. in our  branch. He LOVES airplanes and we had a super long talk because I told him dad worked for them. He has requested a magazine of Boeing if you could! He LOVES Boeing.

Woah... QUESTIONS! haha

Me and my Comp, Elder Azevedo

Looks to me like I have a lot of questions to answer. First of all, my knees are doing better as of right now. I think it was just all the hills. The land is all pretty much flat here which is great. A huge change. Well first...

My comp. His name is Elder C Azevedo. His first name is actually Charles, but they say it really funny here. But he got a kick out of it that dads name is the same. He comes from a family of 4. Mom, Dad, and a sister. His dad drives trucks for a living and his mom does odds and end jobs. Whatever is available. She was actually just recently working for the election. I have gotten my ballot btw. It's on its way back as of tomorrow. I need two American signatures. haha. But he is a great missionary and I am learning a lot already. I love the attitude he has.

The Mt Dew, yep, got it from her [Emily Bond] and it was the best feeling ever to drink one of those again! haha. Emily is on my favorite list now for sending me a super wonderful package. I owe her one!

Yes I got the shirts to Bruno. They look like they will work. I was in Londrina and opened the package for him and made a new package to send to Apucarana. Free and easy. Hopefully he sends me a picture here soon!

As of right now, wait on sending a package. I will get a members address and after transfers you can send one to an address here. Sound good? The zone leaders are normally in Londrina every 3 or 4 weeks. So normally about only one time in the month we will ever see letters. It kinda sucks. But it's fun to get those letters when I finally get them. I have been loving all the letters I have gotten!

Yes Connor, there are different kinds of rice. And some are better than others. They use lots of different kinds here and I can't wait to be able to cook it for real for you all. They make rice so good here!

Fresh fruit, you kidding me?! Its Brazil! haha. Its super cheap here to eat fresh fruit so I like to just munch on it every once and a while. I like making juice and the members always make juice for us. I love it!

Anyways, I don't have too much time today. I am probably gonna get cut short because we still haven't gotten money. I have been living off of candy and members meals this last week. I have 0 reals right now. haha. But it's all good, tomorrow I am gonna get an extra amount because president feels bad. haha. Anyways, this week was a pretty good one. Had lots of good experiences and lots of learning experiences for me. I have been trying this week to study more in depth the scriptures. We read every day, preach my gospel, the scriptures and the Jesus the Christ, the hardest book to read EVER! haha. But it's all good. I love it. I am learning so much from that book. I have also enjoyed being able to study lots in Moroni and Ether. I love those books now. They are by far my favorite and I loved the scripture you sent me. [Moroni 9:6]

Stories!

-World war 3 in the bathroom this week... I was showering when a giant spider came out of nowhere! It scared the crap out of me almost! haha. But I pulled off my sandal and was whacking at it over and over. Finally after a while I got it. But it was funny, after my companion asked what all the noise going on there. I told him what happened and he laughed. He just thinks I am so funny cuz I am American. haha. I wish I could have showed you the spider but it went down the drain. Also had the same experience with a cockroach...

-Dia das crianças this week happened. The day of the children. I was laughing at the idea of the holiday but people take this for serious... haha. They had more fireworks then I have ever seen in my entire LIFE here on that day. I was thinking... WHY?! Children here, not a joke!

-Got kissed again.... this time by a lady. I was walking along the road when I could tell that this lady was struggling with lifting a mattress. I helped her lift it with my companion and after she grabbed me and gave me another wet kiss on the cheek... eesh... My comp laughed, YET AGAIN. haha. He gets a kick out of the day, just from me. haha.

Well anyways, my time is getting short here, gotta write a letter to the president. My branch is really awesome and I can't wait to work more and more here. They are even getting us food today because we have NO money. I am super excited. One of the girls in our branch was like, come over and my dad will make you two food! Thank goodness! Then after, we are going off to the zoo! I will take lots of pictures for you! It's a zoo/wild habitat. It even has alligators! And a waterfall. I am pretty excited!

I love you all! Take care and always smile!

-Elder Millett!

Ps. Tell all the girls congrats for me for wanting to serve a mission! I am super excited for them! They will all do great!
I will hold one one day!

Tudo Tranquilo aqui! [All is "chill" here!]

Everything is wonderful here. My new area is a whole city! Me and my companion are gonna work a lot. He is Brazilian, a MMA fighter (which I plan on learning a little haha) and he is a really clean person and very organized. I will learn a lot. He is also from way up North. Close to where Dallin is going (my friend). So first, about my area:  One, it’s a branch here again but a lot higher attendance. It is super hot here, daily about 40 degrees Celsius, which is really pretty freakin HOT! I can’t believe how hot it gets here. The area has like 0 hills which is great but the only bad thing I can think about here is that we are 1 hour away from the closest missionaries and have to take a bus at least one time a week to get there which sucks. haha. But all in all, it is a wonderful area. Our house is really pretty nice, 2 stories, and a little haunted I am pretty sure... Haha. But all is wonderful here in Garça. I love it. I already love the people and everything! People are also a lot better off here. A lot richer area but very humble people. I really as of right now can’t think of much more to say about the area other then I love it and its good for me that I can only speak in Portuguese to my comp now. Vai ser bom.  [It will be good.]

So this week, basically I am super poor after all these transfer stuff. I spent over 70 reals just with traveling then more to be able to eat and other stuff. All my money is just GONE! I have 3 letters I want to send but I don’t even have the money. But looks like tomorrow I will be getting reimbursed for all of that which will be good. :) haha. But transfers went good. I hung out in Londrina, got my packages and enjoyed doing almost nothing in the office there for a day. I hung out with Elder Carrell and was super excited for him to be going to my first area. It’s also funny because I am in his first area. Just a laid back day.

Then the next day, me and my comp arrived in Garça where we are both new and it has been a struggle trying to get to know everyone and seeing what to do and everything. It’s tough. But it is also really good because I am learning to be a lot more organized and we are learning the area very slowly but surely.... haha. It will come.  Some stories for ya today!

1. Well it was a really funny week and my comp loves to give me a hard time... This guy was walking and he yelled out Diego apparently... But I thought he was yelling at us and saying hi because the guy he was calling was right behind me. I waved and said hi.... he looked at me funny. You know how those go... Now he gives me a hard time like every day. haha.

2. Teaching a lesson here and two chickens just started to attack one another right in front of me until one of them just fell over and died right in front of me. Everyone was just laughing because my face was like.... What the heck is happening here!.... haha.

3. That same lesson we had tons of just little funny things happen. Another one I was using the same type of pamphlet we always use when all of a sudden I got to the first vision part. It was just wonderful, I started to flip through the pages while I was saying the first vision, and the picture just WASNT THERE. It was SOOOO weird! I had just looked at it a second before! But I even checked after and it was not there anymore. It was kinda embarrassing but really weird. Some weird things happen here on the mission. But all in all, that lesson turned out to be really good!

This week I also said goodbye to some members. They were all really sad actually. I was surprised.... haha. But I went and said goodbye to Edinea and she and Bruno were crying. That made me so sad. I am for sure going back there to visit again someday with YOU guys she said. But it was super sad. I also said goodbye to Nerçi, Rosangela, Cido and the rest of the family. They were really sad. I was super sad too. They were basically my parents (Cido and Rosangela) and my gma (Nerçi). I love them to death. We got a lot of people to visit there mom so I gotta get my butt back there one day!

One more cool thing about this area here, it’s got parrots galore! Everywhere there are parrots. It is pretty cool. Lots of owls too for some reason. But I had never seen a parrot in real life until here. Well maybe in the zoo, but you know what I mean! This area I am gonna like a ton. For lots of reasons. I will tell you more sometime here though! I love you all! Take care and always be happy! Have a good Birthday both you and Deanna! Feliz aniversário! [Happy Birthday!] Make it a good day!

Até Mais! I love you!
Elder Millett

I did get to watch them all except priesthood, which I am downloading right now. I had to watch one in Portuguese even... Not the same but I did get a lot out of it! I was seriously sucked in watching like I would be into a video game... It was GOOD! I always took conference for granted!

Transfers!!!!

Ya, I play the accordian... No big deal. It was so much fun!
I am getting transferred finally and will have a Brazilian comp finally! I am so excited. It’s much needed to speak better in Portuguese. Ya know!? I am so excited but Elder Halpin is not... he has been here 3 transfers and this area is pretty tough... to say the least. haha. But I am excited. I am off to a new area! Still haven’t gotten my package though... that’s one thing I am a little worried about. I will just leave the stuff for them in the office in Londrina and have someone take it to them. I am so excited to be transferred. Hopefully it’s gonna be cool! I am gonna be in Marilia, Garça. That should be a lot of fun! Packing and traveling sucks though...

Anyways, your questions...
1. Santa Maria is super gorgeous I have been told. I think that is awesome. I only know a little about it. It’s a pretty big tourist area a lot of the Brazilians say. But that’s about it.

2. Our training went really good. We will see if the members still love us... haha. It was actually really good though and a lot of members had super good input after. Even one of our investigators had some really good input! It was a cool thing to see. I get nervous talking in front of people in Portuguese though... haha. But I am getting over that fear slowly. And mom, what’s the fear of sharing the gospel? The worst that will happen is they say no. But what you are giving to them is SOOO great. It’s their salvation!

3. Dad hat, just look at the hats dad wears... that’s all. haha.

4. The restoration video would be really good actually. I would really like that. We can share videos with lots of people and it’s a really good thing to do. Investigators really like it! But as of right now, I have no idea for a package. I just would love anything you send me. Maybe some Gatorade mixes? I loved the kool aid mixes! They were super good! I also just got Emilys package. I can’t wait to see what’s in it!  It’s waiting in Londrina for me!
This week was a lot of running around. We also got Elder Rife in the house again and it was awesome. We were in a triple for a little while which is always a lot of fun. I loved it. But like I said a lot of running around! My knees have been hurting a lot recently. So we will see, I might be making some trips to the doctor here. And I am working with sister to try and stop anything bad happening before I am sent home. That’s the worst that will happen. But I won’t let it happen! But that’s the only bad news. This week though, for some good news, we made pancakes and maple syrup! That’s a huge thing for me because maple is not found here. Maybe some maple extract you could send? That would be awesome! We really enjoyed it and had a lot of fun making it. I also learned how to make really good juice here. Lots of stuff the members love teaching us. I am bummed I didn’t get to go make cookies with the members here. I am very bummed about that. But I will just give them the recipe and hope they enjoy it!

Some fun stories...

1. I made a dream book recently. It’s really fun actually. You will have a lot of fun reading about some of the dreams I have had. It’s super funny. But I will read them to you all when I am home. I just wake up and first thing I do, write it down. The mission did some crazy stuff to me... I have some WEIRD dreams. haha.

2. It poured the other night.... SIDEWAYS!!! It was crazy. But it was really funny though. We were clapping at this gate when it just starting pouring and asked the guy, could we come in? It’s raining! He asked what church we were and then continued to say, no sorry! I am Catholic! That made me a little upset. But I laughed about it. We got soaked...

3. Fell asleep in a lesson yesterday. First time! That’s pretty good. haha. It was with Edinea and it was just helping her with scriptures but she laughed so hard when I just was asleep randomly. haha.

4. Guy at the store...
Guy:I know you get this a lot, but, who won the Vietnam war?
Me: HUH?! No I don’t get that a lot!

I was so confused. But it was super funny.

This week has been overall not too bad. I am pretty happy I am going to get a new comp and a new area. It is needed big time... The people here are not the nicest to say the least. haha. But I loved the members and having Edinea. I know I was supposed to meet here and I feel honored I got to baptize her. She is super firm in the church! I am ready for something new though!

I gotta get off here though pretty soon. I love you guys so much and I loved that picture on Tyler’s thing! Tell him, I am still a little upset we lost in the last round... haha. I really loved that pic though. haha. Good times. Say hello to him for me! And Connor, he is actually getting something there! Congrats bud! haha.

I also loved the thoughts you sent to me. I can’t wait for general conference! I am gonna go crazy! Maybe he will announce the end of the world??? haha. I love you all!

Take care and talk to ya in a week! When its gonna be your birthday!!!!

Até mais!!
Cam (Elder Millett)
It’s been so long since someone has called me by my first name. Crazy!

Oh and PS... I am gonna be in Sao Paulo! I am gonna die of heat!!! Its even hotter there!
